While the Camas Car Show hit a slight speed bump, the event will still take place this year, just about a month later than originally announced.

The 11th annual show was set for Saturday, but a weather forecast calling for rain caused organizers to push it back to August.

The Camas Car Show will now run from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 6 in downtown Camas. It’s the first time in the event’s history that it was pushed back.

“The consistent forecast for steady rain was the deciding factor as the turn out and activities would be greatly affected,” Carrie Schulstad, executive director of the Downtown Camas Association, wrote in an email. “The Car Show Committee, (Downtown Camas Association) Board, city of Camas, the vendors and the merchants all were involved in making the decision for the date change.”

Entrants who preregistered for the Saturday show don’t have to fill out a new registration form. Those still wanting to preregister can find an updated form on the association’s website, www.downtowncamas.com.

The Camas Car Show features classic and specialty cars lining the streets of downtown, as well as live music, dance performances, balloon art, food and raffle prizes. The show benefits the Inter-Faith Treasure House of Camas-Washougal, and guests who bring two cans of food will get a free raffle ticket.

Awards for Best in Show, People’s Choice and Sponsors’ Picks will be handed out, and the car chosen as Best in Show will be featured in next year’s promotions.

It costs $15 to register a car in the show, and the event is free for spectators.
