WSDOT volunteers help county food bank

Hazel Dell North — Volunteers from the Washington State Department of Transportation took some time off last month to help combat hunger in Clark County. On June 18, 17 WSDOT employees spent a day working the fields at the 78th Street Heritage Farm. The volunteers were there to collect food for the Clark County Food Bank. In 2009, the farm started a partnership with the food bank to maintain a vegetable garden with the help of volunteers. The food bank harvests 80,000 pounds of vegetables at the farm each year.
