WASHINGTON — House Speaker Paul Ryan says “all options are on the table” for punishing Democrats for their overnight sit-in over gun control.
The Wisconsin Republican told reporters Thursday that unless House rules are followed, Congress won’t be able to function, and there will be no hope for bipartisan cooperation.
Ryan says the House parliamentarian and sergeant at arms have given him recommendations for action. He said they’ve reviewed videotape of the sit-in last month on the chamber’s floor and have researched House rules.
Ryan says he doesn’t want to react in “a rash, wrong way.”
Answering a question, Ryan did not rule out a formal censure or reprimand.
Minutes earlier, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi mocked the GOP investigation, telling journalists, “Make my day.”
