Esther Short — Davidson & Associates Insurance Agency asked residents to bring in old American flags throughout a two-week period, collecting more than 230 flags.

The agency handed out more than 300 new flags on June 28 as part of a flag exchange, giving flags to people who turned in old ones and anyone else who stopped by.

The Fort Vancouver District Boy Scouts of America took the old flags and performed a proper retirement ceremony for them.

The insurance agency, with PEMCO Insurance, also sponsored Flag Day at Fort Vancouver on June 14.
