In these times, it’s easy for an old woman like me to become cynical about the society in which we live. Monday, I learned that I was wrong, when my husband and I were involved in a serious car accident.
After our accident, a wonderful group of 10 young people stopped, stayed behind to make sure that we were OK, called 911, and did everything responsible kids would do. I hope their parents are proud, because they taught their children the right thing. We also have to give incredible kudos to Vancouver’s firemen and police who there within minutes.
We were on our way to Share House to donate baby blankets for the infants in shelter. Those guys went into the ditch, retrieved those blankets, and they were delivered Tuesday.
So today I’m offering an open letter of thanks to all of those who were there, who took the time and the effort to help a retired couple who they did not know, and made sure they were all right. You will always have my deepest respect and my heartfelt thanks. There are times when even the most cynical can say, “Those folks rocked my world today.”
