Portland – Oregon State Police are seeking the public’s help in piecing together the details of a mysterious incident in which a man fell out of a moving car on Interstate 205 near Johnson Creek Boulevard on Sunday.

Witnesses who called 911 about 10 a.m. said one car was chasing another when a man in one — a Silver Dodge Neon — tumbled out. The driver of the Neon kept driving without stopping to check on the injured passenger’s welfare, police said.

Police Captain Bill Fugate said it’s unknown how the man fell out — whether it was out of an open window or through an open door, or whether he was pushed or jumped. Police classified the investigation as “criminal.”

Fugate is asking witnesses who haven’t spoken to police to call 503-375-3555.

“It seems like a lot of people witnessed it but left the scene,” Fugate said.

A witness said part of the Neon’s license plate might have been “W2YA.” The car might have had a flat tire.

Police don’t know how badly the man was injured, but troopers are going to the hospital to check.

The incident happened on I-205 northbound, about one and a half miles north of Clackamas Town Center. The freeway was closed for about 80 minutes and reopened shortly before 11:30 a.m.
