Letter: Barnes knows her business

By Laurie Nord, VANCOUVER

Driving by the Clark Public Utilities Operations Center in Orchards recently, I saw rows of solar panels beside the parking lot and wondered what they were. I called Nancy Barnes, our Clark Public Utilities commissioner. She knew to what I was referring: a project called community solar. She was able to tell me how long it had been in place (since 2015), its purpose, who was funding it and outcomes that they were observing. She was passionate, articulate and receptive to my questions. This has also been my experience with Barnes on other occasions.

My level of interest in utilities is that I can count on having clean water and electricity at my convenience. Because of Barnes’ commitment and passion for providing the services so many of us take for granted, we can rest assured that these vital services will be there for us.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
