Lake Shore — Symphony Koss, 15, received a full scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan. Koss, a student in Columbia River High School’s Pre-International Baccalaureate Program, will participate in the camp’s World Youth Orchestra, Advanced String Quartet and Violin Institute. She was one of the winners in the 22nd Annual Van Buren Concerto Competition this April and earned a spot in the Young Artists Debut! Concerto Concert, where she performed with an orchestra made up of members from the Oregon Symphony and Oregon Ballet Theatre orchestras. The music program is open to students in grades three through 12, and they learn from world-class instructors and produce hundreds of presentations each summer. Alumni of the camp, which is in Michigan, include Norah Jones, Josh Groban and Rufus Wainwright.
