CORVALLIS, Ore. — Benton County Commissioner Annabelle Jaramillo has pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge and has been ordered to complete a diversion program.

The Corvallis Gazette-Times says Benton County Circuit Court Judge David Connell on Friday ordered the longtime commissioner to complete an approved treatment program and install an ignition interlock device on her vehicle.

Jaramillo was pulled over while returning home from a campaign fundraiser on April 26. Philomath police said the commissioner registered a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Jaramillo, who is seeking a fifth term in office, later apologized for her actions.

Diversion agreements are a common way of resolving first-offense DUII cases in Oregon. If Jaramillo fulfills the terms of the agreement, the charge would be dismissed and she would not have a conviction on her record.
