Letter: Hot conditions call for extra thanks

By Carrie Thatcher, Vancouver

I would like to express public appreciation to the road work crews of our county during the most recent heat wave.

One day as I sat in my air-conditioned car running errands I noticed the tireless efforts of the work crews. I couldn’t imagine standing on the black pavement, pouring black tar and rock in the oppressive heat.

I am aware they are paid employees but their working conditions those days were far past optimal, yet every day I drive over the roads of our county without a second thought as to how they arrived or are kept safe.

I would like to pass my gratitude along to the workers.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
