Camas – An 11-mile section of state Highway 500 between Vancouver and Camas is getting some repairs, so single-lane closures are scheduled through August.

Contractors working for the Washington Department of Transportation are currently preparing for chip-sealing on damaged portions of Highway 500.

During construction traffic will be reduced to a single lane. Drivers should be prepared for delays of up to 20 minutes.

“The road isn’t in great shape — there’s a fair amount of rutting, deterioration and cracking,” Jonathan Abuyan, WSDOT assistant project engineer said in a news release. “This work will extend the life of the highway and reduce the need for costly maintenance and emergency repairs.”

Work will occur between Pioneer Elementary School and Southeast Leadbetter Road from 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. No work will occur over the holiday weekend.

Construction is expected to be completed in early August.

The project construction is part of a $1.2 million chip seal project in east Clark County.
