Letter: Work for it and appreciate it

I do not believe in giving free college. A person will get more out of college if they have to work for it. I went to college in the early 1960s. I paid for the first year with money I had earned and saved while working jobs while going to school. My second year of college I was short of money. I sold the Vespa Motor Scooter I used to get to school and used that money for my second year along with money I earned working. I had to use public transportation my second year as the Vespa was sold.

I do not want to pay more taxes so people can get free education after the 12th grade. My answer is: Get off your rear and work. It can be done.

The problem now is, everyone wants free stuff and we can thank people like Brenna Taylor for that. I’m referring to her Feb. 25 letter “Two years free is fair jump-start.”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
