Letter: Launch opportunity for local marina

The recent fire at the Sundance Yacht Sales and Marina in Portland was a big loss for members of our community and residents of Oregon who use the marina. Hopefully, everyone had insurance to help cover their material loss, but the memories made out sailing and boating on a favorite watercraft will be harder to replace.

However, hard as it is to think about the future when you are looking at the here-and-now, I would like to suggest to the Vancouver community that this might be a perfect time to pursue a marina as part of the Waterfront Vancouver project and makeover. I can’t think of anyone who would rather tackle the Interstate 5 journey into Oregon than just pull into downtown Vancouver and launch from there.

Something to consider as we plan the future of our own side of the Columbia River. Let’s make Vancouver the place to be and support our community.
