I find it most laughable concerning the Democrats’ so-called outrage about President Obama nominating the next Supreme Court justice, since the Republican-controlled Senate has stated that it will not confirm any of Obama’s nominations. They will, however, consider nominations after he leaves office. Foul, say the Democrats. Well, here is a little history for you hypocrites.
As a senator, Joe Biden rejected the nomination of Robert Bork in 1987. A majority of Democrats rejected Clarence Thomas in 1991. George Mitchell, former Senate majority leader, blocked all of President George H.W. Bush’s nominations in 1992. In 2007, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., called for rejecting nominees of President George W. Bush. And, of course, Obama, as a senator in 2006, filibustered against the nomination of Justice Samuel Alito.
Get a grip you Democrats, and look back upon your own glass houses before you start throwing your hypocritical stones. The Supreme Court will not fall due to an eight-member panel. After all, the first Supreme Court had only six justices. They did pretty well, did they not?
