Letter: National security trumps privacy

Apple and everyone involved are not rocket scientists, but neither am I. The FBI needs this information on the San Bernardino shooter’s iPhone — yesterday. Take the cellphone into Apple and wait in the lobby. Have their best hacker break the code (you know they have at least one). Make the hacker sign a release form that he will tell no one how he did it or will be held liable if the secret gets out. He has only hacked the one phone.

Getting that information is critical for our country. Apple must do it, or be sued or penalized monetarily. National security trumps everything.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
