PULLMAN — A national medical school committee will inspect the facilities of the new Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine this summer.
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education will ultimately decide whether Washington State University’s new medical school should be granted preliminary accreditation.
WSU vice dean Ken Roberts updated the school’s progress Wednesday.
The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that preliminary accreditation could come as soon as October.
Roberts says the school can then begin to recruit students for its first year.
Roberts said the college is hopeful the first class will begin in 2017, but much depends on the accreditation process.
WSU began the task of creating its own medical school in 2014.
