Go for March 11: ‘Brigadoon,’ The Trail Band

1. Scottish love

Camas High School Drama presents a tale of romance and time travel with “Brigadoon.” In this musical, Tommy and Jeff, two American tourists, get lost while visiting the Scottish Highlands. They stumble upon Brigadoon, a mysterious village that appears for one day every 100 years. Things get complex when Tommy falls in love with Fiona, a young woman in the village. Performances begin at 7 p.m. March 11 and 12 and March 18 and 19, and at 2 p.m. March 19 at Camas High School, 26900 S.E. 15th St., Camas. 2. On the trail

The Trail Band, a high-energy ensemble, will perform a benefit concert for the Salmon Creek Kiwanis Club at 3 p.m. March 13. The eight-person band blends brass and string arrangements of original acoustic and traditional songs, featuring five vocalists including Quarterflash’s Rindy Ross. The concert takes place at the Skyview High School Concert Hall, 1300 N.W. 139th St., Vancouver. Tickets are $20 to $22. www.tickettomato.com/event/3513/the-trail-band

3. Community fun

Hello Vancouver returns this month with more local musicians, storytellers, performances and discussions with community members, hosted by Temple Lentz. The Police Activities League will talk about its mission of building positive relationships between law enforcement officers and youth in the community. Heidi Mason, author of “Investigating the Heart,” will talk about her book series, and Sameena Bachmeire of Rainy Day Read will talk about being a small-press publisher. Scott Campbell from Waste Connections will share where garbage goes, while The Pamela Jordan Band performs its brand of jazzy pop. The event begins at 7 p.m. March 16 at the Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., Vancouver. Admission is free. http://hellovancouver.us

4. Think about it

The annual OHSU Brain Fair showcases how adaptive the brain can be. Activities and demonstrations will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 12. Visitors will meet neuroscientist from the Oregon Health and Science University Brain Institute as they demonstrate ongoing brain research for all ages. The fair will also feature real human and animal brains, interactive exhibits and other activities. The event is free, with no museum admission required, at the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry, 1945 S.E. Water Ave., Portland.
