Battle Ground police arrest 2 on theft, drug charges

Two Portland women were arrested after Battle Ground police responded to an alcohol theft only to discover drugs and other stolen items.

Officers responded to the Battle Ground Albertson’s store, 2108 W. Main St., on March 7 for a report of theft of alcohol. During the investigation and arrest, officers recovered from the women drugs, drug paraphernalia and stolen credit cards and driver’s licenses not belonging to the women, police said.

Janae Kelley, 36, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree theft. Brittani Newton, 30, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and third-degree theft.
