Coast Guard rescues 4 boaters in Newport

NEWPORT, Ore. — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued four people from an overturned boat Saturday in Newport.

The 18-foot boat overturned near the entrance to Yaquina Bay. The Coast Guard said the boaters were not wearing lifejackets.

A Yaquina Bay Coast Guard crew took the boaters to their station. They were treated for minor injuries and taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital.
