Denise McCarty is leaving her job as the Columbia River Economic Development Council’s director of business recruitment and expansion to become executive director of the Oregon Bioscience Association, the Portland Business Journal reported Tuesday.

McCarty spent three years at the Vancouver-based job recruitment organization, where she helped recruit 25 companies to Clark County including Banfield Pet Hospital, which will relocate from Portland this year, the newspaper reported. She also assisted the Port of Vancouver on its creation of the Columbia River Life Science Building at the former Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay. The building so far has attracted one tenant that is set to move into the building later this year.

McCarty replaces Dennis McNannay, who plans to launch a digital health startup. She begins the job next week.
