The March 9 editorial “Remove Voter Roadblocks: Efforts to increase registration in Washington should be supported,” discussed Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman. While many leaders are working hard to remove barriers to voting, Wyman is not one of them. Tossing her name on the Automatic Voter Registration bill in the House doesn’t make her an advocate, and neither does opposing the Voting Rights Act. Increasing voter participation is her job, and, as I see it, she’s failing at it.
It’s time to get a secretary of state who believes that every single vote matters, so before you stand behind Wyman again, I urge you to look at candidate Tina Podlodowski. She’ll truly work to change voting in Washington.
