CHEHALIS — Fire officials are investigating a large blaze that burned about 2,000 gallons of oil stored at a Chehalis gas station.

Chehalis Fire Chief Ken Cardinale says the fire spread rapidly through the office and warehouse at Cenex late Sunday. He says 2,000 gallons of lubricating oil stored inside the warehouse area burned, causing explosions.

No injuries were reported. The gas station on the property was not open at the time of the fire, which was reported at 10:34 p.m.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the blaze. A hazmat team was on site Monday.

Cardinale says crews managed to keep the water and oil runoff out of storm drains.
