As chief and on behalf of Clark County Fire District 6, I would like to thank the community for participating in the recent meetings we had about our levy for emergency medical service.
Based on this input, the board of fire commissioners will ask voters to renew the EMS levy during the August primary election. This is a replacement levy for the same amount (45 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value), which was first approved by voters in 1980.
In 2015, we responded to 6,807 calls — 76 percent of which were for emergency medical service. EMS calls have increased 29 percent over the last 10 years alone, and that number is expected to grow as our local population increases and ages.
The public’s input showed us that EMS continues to be valued by our community, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Fire District 6 is committed to providing the most advanced life-saving service for the lowest possible cost.
We will continue to share information about the renewal through the news media; our website, www.ccfd6.org; and Facebook page ClarkCountyFireDistrict6.
