SEATTLE — Amazon is beefing up what it says is a fast-growing handicrafts store by adding new categories of products made by artisans, including accessories such as handbags, baby items and toys.
The tech and retail giant on Thursday disclosed some figures illustrating how quickly the Handmade store, which competes directly with the popular online marketplace Etsy, has grown.
Since its launch in the fall, the number of items on offer at Handmade store has quadrupled to 400,000. The new categories add more than 20,000 items to the repertoire.
