HOOD RIVER, Ore. — A church in Hood River is being criticized for displaying anti-Islamic messages on its reader board.

KATU-TV reports that the message board in front of Belmont Drive Missionary Baptist Church reads “Wake up Christians. Allah is not our God. Muhammad not greater than Jesus.” On the other side it says “Only the bible is God’s word. ‘Holy book.’ Koran is just another book.”

Hood River residents have complained about the sign and written to the local newspaper to complain.

Pastor Michael Harrington says he is being biblically correct, which he finds more important than being politically correct. He says he harbors no hate toward Muslims, only that he’s trying to educate others about his religion.

Harrington says he plans to change the message next month.
