Letter: City government needs fixing

By Anne L. Jackson, Vancouver

When I saw the front-page photo of Don Benton on my front steps, I nearly lost it (“Benton to lose job,” May 12, The Columbian).

But now that The Columbian has pretty much straightened out Clark County, accept my congratulations and pick your next chore: the city of Vancouver.

For starters, how do we ordinary citizens find a petition asking for repeal of the salary debacle? It appears that only the “in groups” have access to this information. I suspect that I could pick up 100 signatures just around my neighborhood, and I’m sure there are others who would take one about, as well.

The goal is ludicrously small for such a hot topic, or the citizens care less about their city than their county.

Keep up the good work.
