GOLD BAR — Two wildfires in Western Washington have been fully contained, but state officials say crews are still mopping up the fires near Gold Bar and Oso in Snohomish County.

Fire spokesman Randy Shepard says weather forecasters are expecting rain to fall through the weekend. Authorities have advised the public to stay away from the burned area. Lingering hazards include standing trees with burned roots logs or snags that could break free and roll.

The Department of Natural Resources says crews have finished containment lines around both a 67-acre fire near Oso and a 289-acre fire near Gold Bar.

Officials say the cause of both fires remains unknown.
