Brush Prairie — Hockinson Heights Elementary School received a $4,000 Music Aid Northwest Grant to support the school’s music program by purchasing Orff instruments, replacing old instruments and purchasing a variety of instruments from around the world. The Hockinson School District pledged a 10 percent match toward music materials and supplies. “These different instruments will give our students an authentic experience and opportunity to explore other countries through music,” Megan Miles, the school’s music teacher who applied for the grant, said in a release from the school. “It will also help them develop team-building skills and eye-hand coordination, build self-esteem and empower their confidence as they create, respond to and perform music together.”
