North Garrison Heights — Amy Ciecko was given the David Lloyd Exceptional Nurse Award on May 11 for her work at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Ciecko started at PeaceHealth as an intern, and was hired full time in 2009. The nominations for the award came from emergency physicians and physician assistants, and after the nominations were collected, the non-nursing members voted on the candidates. “Her work ethic and compassion, nursing skills, and ability to handle stressful situations is a reflection of all of our nurses in this department,” Jason Hanley, an emergency medicine doctor at PeaceHealth, said while presenting the award to Ciecko, according to a release from the hospital. “This nurse is an example of what makes our department perform the amazing small huge feats it does every day.” The award is named for David Lloyd, an emergency room physician who died in 2015. “He was the one you would go to with any kind of educational questions,” Ciecko said of Lloyd in the same release. “He was ready to provide education, but he would also challenge you to think, and he would ask you in-depth questions.”
