KIRKLAND — Wildlife officials have killed a coyote that Kirkland residents say killed their pets and terrorized their neighborhood.
KCPQ-TV reports that Kirkland officials say the animal stopped being afraid of people and was killed by U.S. Department of Agriculture officials last Friday.
Kirkland City Manager Kurt Triplett says killing the coyote was a last resort and something officials took very seriously. He says the city called the USDA after receiving more than 20 complaints.
According to Triplett, the coyote was large, aggressive, and frequently approached humans or leapt over fences into backyards. He says relocating the coyote won’t solve the problem if it is used to humans.
