Nautilus Inc., the Vancouver-based exercise equipment brand, has sued Utah-based Icon Health & Fitness for alleged patent infringement.

The lawsuit filed in federal court in Tacoma on Monday asserts Icon, maker of NordicTrack and other brands, is using Nautilus’ patented “variable stride technology” in its FreeStride Trainer FS7i.

In the lawsuit, Portland lawyer John D. Vandenberg, with Klarquist Sparkman, demanded a jury trial and monetary relief “to the fullest extent” for four counts of patent infringement. The suit also seeks a permanent injunction against “further infringing activity.”
