I have become extremely disgusted with U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, over the years so was glad to see a well-known candidate, Jim Moeller, challenge her for 3rd Congressional District seat.
Many times I have tried to approach Herrera Beutler in letters seeking to present my opposing views on some of her most important issues, such as more tax cuts for the wealthy and taking medical insurance from children who need it through the Affordable Care Act. I am only after successful dialogue. When I ask for a response quite often she just writes back saying, “I am glad you agree with me.” Talk about a communication slam.
Since she doesn’t appear to believe in town hall meetings but instead asks her followers, by invitation, to have “coffee” with her, how does one get to present an opposing view? Herrera Beutler is so locked into the GOP agenda that she refuses to listen to anybody other than the GOP.
Moeller is 100 percent correct when he says we don’t have any representation in Washington, D.C. He will get my vote, as I am ready to find an open-minded listener.
