YWCA Clark County received $486,286 from the Classic Wines Auction — the highest amount the nonprofit has ever received in its eight years as a charity partner of the auction.

YWCA got $439,759 from the Classic Wines Auction last year and $285,810 the year before that. The nonprofit, which aims to “eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all,” is celebrating its centennial year.

Executive director Sherri Bennett said the money covers the cost of services nor covered by government funding or other grants. She said the nonprofit plans to use the money to fund new employees for its Court Appointed Special Advocate Program, Independent Living Skills Program and SafeChoice Domestic Violence Shelter.

In total, the auction raised more than $3 million this year for charities benefiting Southwest Washington and Oregon.
