Did you know some of the country’s most talked-about research is happening in Vancouver? Have you heard about a college’s work to meet a growing need for skilled trade workers?

In this week’s episode of Clark Talks, The Columbian’s podcast dives into education.

Columbian reporters Kaitlin Gillespie and Dameon Pesanti introduce small cities reporter Adam Littman. Then they talk with scientist Christine Portfors about some of the ground-breaking research happening at Washington State University Vancouver and the advantages and disadvantage of being a smaller, newer campus than the Pullman flagship.

They also speak with Clark College Welding Department head Caleb White about his institution’s drive to embrace technology and efforts to fill a growing void of industrial welders.

The podcast is free and available on SoundCloud. Smartphone users can also subscribe to it via the Stitcher and iTunes apps.
