Weather Eye: After lingering showers, we’ll continue to have mild days

Rain, rain go away, come back again another day! This may have been on a few people’s minds Saturday as, yes, the rains were back. It was so delightful Thursday and Friday to have sunshine and dry ground.

Friday’s high of 68 degrees, 70 degrees in some Clark County neighborhoods, made it feel much more like summer than fall. I could get used to that, but it was odd for November. The weather and the seasons seemed out of sync.

But not to worry, as another system arrived early Saturday morning with rain beginning around 6 or 7 for most folks. There was a beautiful red sunrise as captured by a few as I noticed on Facebook. As of 5 p.m. Saturday, we tallied nearly a half-inch of rain in Vancouver. It took a while moving east after starting along the coastal strip Friday night.

Amounts along the Washington Coast were well above 1 inch, and it was still raining there and in Clark County as I wrote this column. Today, there will be lingering showers. A weak warm front moves by to the north tonight but may drag south for a little moisture locally. Otherwise, Monday and Tuesday are expected to be mild and dry with easterly winds once again. This will help hold storms at bay and make the highs bounce into the 60s. What a start to November.

So where are we heading weather-wise this week? Still continued mild with above-average temperatures. I think we will see some dry days and perhaps more rain later in the week as systems skip by close to the county. Enjoy the mild weather, as it could cool off as we head toward Thanksgiving.
