Ries lifts Ridgefield soccer, 1-0

Taryn Ries was taken down in the box in the first half, then converted the subsequent penalty kick, sending the Ridgefield girls soccer teams to a 1-0 win over White River of Buckley in the 2A state tournament on Wednesday in Orting.

The Spudders advance to the quarterfinals. They’ll travel to play Liberty of Renton on Saturday.

Madalyn Chapman recorded five saves in goal to preserve the shutout for Ridgefield.
