Murray named No. 3 Senate Democrat

Washington Sen. Patty Murray, who last week cruised to re-election to a fifth term, was elected assistant minority leader by the Democratic caucus Wednesday.

Murray moved up to the Number Three spot as Senate Democrats rearranged their caucus in the wake of the election and several retirements. Murray had been Democratic Conference secretary, the No. 4 position, since 2006.
