Washougal — Families at Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School raised $1,329.55 for the Cape Horn American Legion No. 122 Annual Christmas Food Baskets Program. The check was presented to the legion at the school’s Veteran’s Day Assembly on Nov. 10. The school’s booster club collected money in a variety of ways, including a coin drive, where families were asked to clean out couches, cars and pockets to find coins to donate. At the assembly, Lt. Matthew Bezold and Lt. Cdr. Roy Walker from the Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island spoke to students, showed video clips from flights around the world and spent the day in classrooms.
