Vancouver – Unleaded gas prices are standing pat this week ahead of a meeting between oil producing countries who may bottleneck oil production and drive up costs, according to AAA Oregon/Idaho.
The national average stood pat at $2.14 per gallon. Gas prices per gallon notched $2.41 in Oregon, $2.44 in Portland, $2.60 in Washington and $2.55 in Vancouver. Each location saw a slight dip from last week.
Prices could be upended soon, though, the organization reported. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, a cartel of 14 major oil exporters, will meet today in Vienna.
“OPEC has said it would reach an agreement to cut or freeze oil production, and any such agreement would likely send crude oil prices higher, resulting in higher pump prices,” said AAA Oregon/Idaho Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds in the statement.
