Letter: Send Stonier to Legislature

By Ann Bardacke, VANCOUVER
Published: October 6, 2016, 6:00am

As a resident of the 49th Legislative District, I read with interest your editorial endorsing Alishia Topper over Monica Stonier for Position 2 (“In Our View — Topper in 49th District,” Oct. 1). You wrote that “both candidates are articulate and thoughtful Democrats, and they possess similar experience and similar political philosophies.”

I do think that Stonier’s experience in state legislature should count for more than Topper’s in the Vancouver City Council. However, given that both are well qualified, why not retain Topper in the city council where she is doing such a fine job, and send Stonier to the Legislature? Two for the price of one, so to speak.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
