Letter: Wyman offers proven choice

By Greg Kimsey, Vancouver
Published: October 8, 2016, 5:59am

Our current secretary of state, Kim Wyman, has been working in elections for more than 23 years. Wyman’s opponent has never worked in elections and demonstrated her lack of understanding of our election laws, and of the secretary of state’s responsibilities, when she called on Wyman to cancel this year’s presidential primary. Canceling it would have violated state law.

Nearly 60 current and former county auditors and elections directors (Republicans, Democrats and nonpartisans) from each of Washington’s 39 counties have endorsed Wyman. Our past three secretaries of state have endorsed her, as have the Washington Education Association and the Association of Washington Business. Seven daily newspaper editorial boards have also.

Wyman is committed to improving access to the elections system while maintaining accuracy, transparency and accountability.

Voters will be best served by retaining Kim Wyman.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
