They might not be on the biggest stages of college football, but Clark County players can still play a starring role.

That was the case Saturday for Jacob Bystry. The redshirt freshman from Columbia River High School had his best game so far for Citrus College, catching six passes for 52 yards, including a 17 yard touchdown pass against Victor Valley.

Bystry is among a handful of current Clark County players who chose the JUCO route to continue their football careers. Located in Glendora, Calif., Citrus College is 3-2 this season in the California Community College Athletic Association.

Jumping up to NCAA Division II, sophomore linebacker Gabe Lopes had a strong game for Simon Fraser. The Camas High grad returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown against Western Oregon. He also had eight tackles, including one sack.

And Prairie grad Jesse Zalk continued to show why he was an NCAA D-II preseason All-American. The Central Washington receiver had a game-high nine catches for 171 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown, in a 42-17 win over Humboldt State.
