A 13-year-old boy was wounded Sunday afternoon after an accidental shooting at a home near Yacolt.

Clark County Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics were called to the home, along Northeast Thompson Road, at 1:39 p.m.

The wounded boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment after a LifeFlight helicopter was unavailable, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian. His condition was not immediately available.

A sheriff’s deputy at the scene told KOIN-TV that the boy apparently was shot by his cousin, who is also 13. The boys were playing downstairs in the home while the parents were upstairs.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives were called to the residence and are investigating the incident, according to a news release.
