Letter: Topper is best for 49th District

By Elaine Brown, Vancouver

Whenever I sit in traffic trying to cross the I-5 Bridge, I think of Monica Stonier and her vote against the state transportation funding package while she was representing the 17th District in Olympia.

Now that she has lost re-election in the 17th and parachuted into the 49th, she is continuing her lack of leadership by sowing the seeds of discord in our district. We need a true, principled, proven leader who supported the replacement of the I-5 Bridge, opposed the Tesoro-Savage oil terminal, and who can work with fellow Democrats as well as across the aisle. Alishia Topper, through her decade-long work for our community, privately and on the Vancouver City Council, is just such a person.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
