Letter: Vote to reduce gun deaths

By Krista Roscoe, Battle Ground

Defenders of Second Amendment rights will have the chance this fall to demonstrate good faith, and show that the common welfare is indeed at the center of their core values. Reducing gun deaths in our communities is a goal that everyone can get behind, and it will take everyone working together to make it happen.

Initiative 149 — Washington’s Extreme Risk Protection Order — gives families a means to temporarily bar gun access to individuals who show evidence of risk of violence to themselves or others. Let’s put our hearts and minds together at the ballots, and make the state of Washington a leader in reducing gun deaths, while preserving the right for common citizens to use firearms responsibly. Vote yes on I-491.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
