Letter: Democrats feed off racial tension

The narrative most important to Democrats this election cycle has become “blacks are victims, police are instruments of racial bias, and it’s the Republican’s fault.” Though evidence and statistics stand in stark contrast to this storyline, it’s become central to beating Trump. As Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel advised President Obama: “You never let a serious crisis go to waste.”

Police cannot do their jobs without public support. Too bad for inner cities. Businesses have burned, jobs have been lost, real estate values will plummet, and people are quietly fleeing if they can afford it. Who wants to stay in a lawless war zone?

It’s a horse race and Democrats are digging their spurs into a frothing, stumbling thoroughbred named “Racial Tension” fixated on Nov. 8, while inner cities across America simmer and burn.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
