Clark roundup: Penguins sweep Chemeketa in soccer

The Clark College men’s and women’s soccer teams posted two home shutouts of Chemeketa on Saturday with the Clark men winning 3-0 and the women 9-0 in the NWAC South division opener.

In the women’s match, Camas High grad Rylee MacDonald had three goals and an assist, Camas grad Riley Allison had three assists, and Molly Joyce had three goals. It was Clark’s third win of the week as the Penguins improved to 4-1 overall.

In the men’s match, Evans Onani-Chima had two goals, and the third was by Woodlin Placide. Clark is now 1-3-1 overall.

VOLLEYBALL: On Friday night, the Clark volleyball team beat visiting Blue Mountain 3-2 (25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 15-5). Livia Strandberg had 15 kills, Sierra Mayberry 13 kills, Olivia Jacoschenk 23 assists and Courtney Misner 19 digs.

CROSS COUNTRY: Also Friday, the Clark cross country team ran at the Ash Creek Invitational at Monmouth, Ore. Union High grad Cassie McKinney was eighth in the women’s race. Mountain View grad Sam Garvin was the top men’s finisher for Clark, placing 21st as the Penguins were seventh out of nine complete teams.
