Prep highlights: Paulsen’s goals lift Hockinson soccer

Win over Columbia River keeps Hawks in first in 2A GHSL

Trinity Paulsen scored two goals as the Hockinson girls soccer team edged Columbia River 3-2 in the 2A Greater St. Helens League match on Tuesday.

Natalie Johnson scored the first goal for the Hawks on an assist by Kayla Sills.

Paulsen then added two unassisted goals as the Hawks improved to 3-0 in league play.

Columbia River dropped to 0-2 in league play after losing to Ridgefield last week.

Stars of the day

• Jacob Larson, Columbia River golf, fired an even-par 35 at Lewis River, leading the Chieftains to a win over Hockinson.

• Vanessa Franke, Woodland volleyball, had 10 kills and six aces in a win over R.A. Long.

• Abby Wilmington, Columbia River, had 18 kills, helping the Chieftains improve to 1-1 in 2A GSHL matches.

• Hallie Eha and Hanna Eha, Skyview swimming, each won a pair of individual events and teamed up to be part of two winning relay races in wins over Mark Morris and R.A. Long.

• Emma Cox, Mountain View girls soccer, had two goals and one assist in a win over Hudson’s Bay.

• Maya Davis, Prairie girls soccer, scored four goals in a win over Fort Vancouver.

• Laynie Erickson, La Center volleyball, had 19 kiills, 11 blocks and 24 digs in a win at Kalama.

• Maddie Stimmel, La Center volleyball, had 16 kills and 23 digs and 11 service points in a win at Kalama.

• Ryan Cibart, Heritage cross country, won a three-team meet against Union and Fort in 17:04.

• Emily Phelps, Fort Vancouver cross country, won a three-team against Heritage and Union in 19:54.

• Dolly Suarez, Evergreen girls soccer, had two goals and three assists in a 7-0 win over Columbia-White Salmon.

• Madi Harter, Ridgefield volleyball, had 11 kills, 6 digs, 1 block and 1 ace in a 3-0 win over Washougal.

• MacKenzie Ellertson, King’s Way Christian soccer, had two goals and two assists in a 7-0 win over Hoquiam.

• Sydney Miller, Battle Ground volleyball, had 34 assists, 7 aces and 4 digs in a 3-0 win over Seton Catholic.

• Samuel Johnson, Mountain View boys cross country, won a three-team meet with Skyview and Evergreen in 17:12.

• Madison Pfaff, Camas volleyball, had seven digs, four kills and two aces as the Papermakers beat W.F. West.

• Savanna Craig, Mountain View girls cross country, won a three-team meet with Skyview and Evergreen in 19:35.

• Yacine Guermali, Camas boys cross country, won in a meet against Battle Ground in 12:47 over the 4,000-meter course at Lewisville Park.

• Hannah Kneeshaw, Prairie girls cross country, won in a meet against Kelso in 15:52 over the 4,000-meter course at Lewisville Park.

• Hanna and Hallie Eha, Skyview girls swimming, both won two events at a meet at Mark Morris. Hannah won the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke while Hallie won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.
