I support the Vancouver Energy proposed oil terminal.
As we know, it is really a transfer facility and not a processing operation. I believe everything has been considered in regards to safety. The transfer equipment and the rail tankers wouldn’t be built, if not under the strictest specifications. If it’s not built here, it will go to another town, which may mean longer rail and ship travel, more towns to travel through, more fuel, etc. Wake up — where do you think all the fuel, which we need now and in the future, will come from?
You drive to do your picketing on tires of petroleum, gas and oil in your crank case. Everything you work with is of oil byproducts, even the ropes you hang from.
I was born in a pristine fishing town on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Waters were overfished and employment was scarce. Then Texaco and Shell put in refineries to handle crude oil from Alaska. Ships deliver the product, unnoticed. Real estate there is at a premium. It was, and is, a beautiful place to live.
Soon, due to fracking products from North Dakota and elsewhere, rail cars will be delivering to these giants for separation into products that you and I use to survive. They will become part of the landscape and will employ people.
I look forward to Vancouver Energy’s proposed operation.
