Brad Meltzer headlines fundraiser

Author, TV show host will speak at library’s annual dinner event

Brad Meltzer, whose name has appeared on best-seller lists, TV productions and the hood of a NASCAR stock car, will headline the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation’s fundraising event on Oct. 24.

The author and History Channel television host will speak at the annual Authors & Illustrators Dinner, 5 to 9:30 p.m. at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St., Vancouver.

Meltzer’s newest book is “The House of Secrets.” Previous best-sellers include “The Inner Circle,” “The Book of Fate,” “The Tenth Justice” and “The First Counsel.”

“The Book of Fate” got a high-speed launch when it was promoted on the hood of a NASCAR entry during a race in 2006.

Meltzer also has been a multi-category achiever, with books on best-seller lists for non-fiction (“History Decoded”), advice (“Heroes for My Son” and “Heroes for My Daughter”), children’s books (“I Am Amelia Earhart” and “I Am Abraham Lincoln”) and comic books (“Justice League of America”).

His TV credits include “Brad Meltzer’s Lost History” and “Brad Meltzer’s Decoded” on the History Channel.

Tickets to the Authors & Illustrators Dinner are $85 each. There are also a limited number of tickets available for a private reception with Meltzer for $50 per person from 5 to 6 p.m.; priority will be given to guests who purchase dinner tickets.

The event includes a silent auction from 5 to 7 p.m., before dinner seating. Tickets can be purchased at the Library Foundation’s website, www.fvrlfoundation.org.

Proceeds will support Fort Vancouver Regional Library District programs and services, including summer reading; early learning; and science, technology, engineering and math programs.
